CBSE Rules for Improvement of Performance in class 12

Improvement of Performance in CBSE class 12
(a) A candidate who has passed an examination of the Board may reappear for improvement of performance in one or more subjects in the succeeding year only; however, a candidate who has passed an examination of the Board under Vocational Scheme may reappear for improvement of performance in the main examination in the succeeding year or the following year provided they have not pursued higher studies in the mean time. They will appear as private candidates. Those reappearing for the whole examination may, however, appear as regular candidates also if admitted by the school as regular students. The candidate (s) appearing for improvement of performance can appear in the subject (s) only in which they have appeared for the Examination.
(b) For subjects involving practical work, in case the candidate has passed in practical at the main examination, she shall be allowed to appear in theory part only and marks in practical obtained at the main examination shall be carried forward and accounted for. In case a candidate has failed in practical, she shall have to appear in theory and practical both irrespective of the fact that she has already cleared the theory examination.
(c) Candidates who appear for Improvement of Performance will be issued only Statement of Marks reflecting the marks of the improvement examination.
(d) A candidate appearing for Improvement of Performance in one or more subjects cannot appear for additional subject simultaneously.

(e) Candidates appearing in six subjects at the Senior School Certificate Examination having been declared ‘Pass’ by virtue of securing pass marks in five subjects as per Rule 2.2 (iv) may appear in the failing main subject at the Compartment Examination to be held in July the same year provided she had appeared at the Examination held in March in the said subject.

  5. A query related to point (e) ,

    In case a candidate have been declared ‘Pass’ by virtue of securing pass marks in five subjects of 6 subjects (1 additional) and has failed in one of the main subject (english).
    How she has to appear now? as compartmental or improvement Examination for English. she had passed 12 last year(2012) and missed to write both compartmental and improvement exam that year for the failed subject i.e., English.

    Now(2013) what all Options is she left with? Please Help!

  6. A query related to point (e).

    I passed XII last year i.e, 2012 bcoz of my 6th(additional subject) (and failed in English).. Also I missed to write any improvement or compartment (whichever might be applicable) exam for English that year.
    Now(2013) What all options I have left to write a exam for the subject English?
    Which exam I should go for: Improvement or Compartment??
    Please help I m stuck as Colleges are asking compulsorily to have passed in English 🙁

    and want to improve my maths percentage ..
    I am not satisfied with it as it affects my overall percentage ,
    can I reappear only for maths in 2014 ??

    I have passed my XII class last year …. Nd this year i reappeared for the improvemnent exam of maths and physics … And now in result i have got more marks in maths than last time … But in physics i got less marks so sir which marks are included this time marks or last year marks as now i am having more marks in maths than last time nd less marks in physics than last time

  10. in previous year i am pass in all subject but this year i am fail in physics but in result improvement is written. is it possible that previous marks will added to it.

  11. last year i got 60 in maths and 87 in chemistry and this year (as improvement) i got 85 in maths but 72 in chemistry .. please tell me what marks are going to be considered by cbse as final ..

    i am a student of class 12th arts and i want to improve my marks
    i got 46 in english
    23 in mmwt..
    i m not satisfied by my marks….may i re write the exams…i have read the instruction what i can do now….

    85 in english
    and 68 in physics

    i am not satisfied with my marks…if i go for rechecking and after that can i give improvement exam?

  16. kase din agaye mujha improvement ka bara ma …aur drop marna ke bare me sonchana pud gaya ……..akk bar bus hanth aa jaye vo sala eng ka teacher jesane mujha 59 marks deya han…..ye 95 hota toh mara agregate 95.2% bun jate…..

    12th 2017,but in 2018 he appeared as an improvement case.He remain absent in one main subject.Whether previous year result will be counted for that subject.
