{tex}\sqrt {x+15}+\sqrt x = 15 {/tex}

{tex}=> \sqrt {x+15} = 15- \sqrt x {/tex}

squaring both sides, we get

{tex}=> x+15 = 225 + x + 30\sqrt x{/tex}

{tex}=> 30\sqrt x = 210{/tex}

{tex}=> \sqrt x = 7{/tex}

squaring both sides, we get

{tex}=> x = 49 {/tex}

Transpiration

Guttation

1. In transpiration, water is lost in the form of water vapour. In guttation, water is lost in the form of liquid droplets.
2. Water lost is pure water. Water lost contains salts, sugars and amino acids.
3. Water is transpired through stomata, cuticle and lenticels. Water is lost through hydathodes (chalk glands.)
4. It takes place in present of light when the temperature is higher. It occurs during the cold hours of early morning and night.
5. It takes place in dry conditions which favour loss of water through diffusion. It takes place in humid conditions which do not favour loss of water through diffusion.
6. It is controlled by a number of factors, the opening and closing of stomata being the main one. It continues as long as adequate water supply in maintained and the conditions are cold and humid.
7. Excessive transportation under deficit water supply leads to wilting. It never results in wilting as it does not take place under deficit water supply.
