The writer describes a tiger who is caged in a zoo. She implies that his cage is small and the tiger is furious for not being free. Then it is mentioned that he was not born to be caged but to roam around in a grassy jungle , waiting to hunt a deer or some other prey.

Fire and Ice is a symbolic which makes us aware of the most inhumane side of humanity. Here, the poet describes two conflicting natural elements, FIRE & ICE as methods for APOCALYPSE, the end of the world. When some people believe that Fire would destroy our world, others believe that Ice can cause the world to get destroyed. According to the poet, as he has tasted both of them, he still stands with those who favour fire. Here, he equates fire with desire and ice with hatred. When desires spread like fire and engulf one's whole life, hatred fills one's life with poison.

Dust of Snow is a short and beautiful poem written by Robert Frost. It is a motivating poem that tells us how our view of perceiving things changes our minds and puts a greater impact on our lives. By enjoying the simple moments of life, we can get rid of our day-to-day problems and worries. This also helps us in living a happy and healthy life.

In the Dust of Snow poem, the poet has mentioned a crow, snow and a hemlock tree. The crow, dust of snow and the hemlock tree describe the depressive and sorrowful mood of the poet. Since the poet was not in a good mood, he sees nature in the same way and describes nature’s bitter side to express his feelings.

CHAPTER 1: A LETTER TO GOD By G.L.Fuentes  Lencho was a farmer, his house was the only house in the valley and on top of a hill.  Lencho's fields needed rain for a good harvest.  He looked expectantly at the sky and it did rain at last .  The drops of rain were like the coins for him, which would help him reap a good harvest and earn some money for his family.  But his happiness was short lived as very large hailstones began to fall after the rain and destroyed his crop.  There was a single hope -help from God, On the following Sunday ,he wrote a letter to God.  He needed a hundred pesos to sow his fields again and to live until the new crop came.  He wrote 'To God ' on the envelope and put the letter into the mail box.  The postman laughed heartily and took it to the postmaster ,the postmaster laughed too but soon he became serious.  He decided to reply the letter and help Lencho, as he did not want Lencho to lose faith in God.  Postmaster could collect seventy pesos only, from his employees and he himself also contributed a part of his salary.  He put the money in an envelope and posted it to Lencho.  Lencho was happy but not at all surprised when he received the money because he had an unbroken faith in God .  His happiness turned into anger as there were only seventy pesos instead of hundred pesos .  Lencho could never believe that God could ever deceive him .  So, he wrote another letter to God reminding him that he received only 70 pesos sent by him  He asked God not to send the rest of 30 pesos through the mail as the post office employees were a ' bunch of crooks. 1. Whom did Lencho write a letter? What did he ask for and why? 2. What were Lencho's feelings when he found the letter with money in it? What did he do after opening it? 3. Why does the postmaster send money to Lencho? Why does he sign the letter 'God'? 4. What are the raindrops compared to and why? 5. Who does Lencho think has taken the rest of the money? Describe the ironical ending of the story?

Nelson Mandela felt privileged of being the host to more than 140 nations across the world on his own South African soil because not too long ago, people who looked just like he did were considered outlaws on their own land. So, he thanked the leaders for having come for his investiture as the first black president of South Africa. He considered South African Independence as a common victory for peace, justice and human dignity.

Dust of Snow’ is a beautiful short poem written by Robert Frost. This poem tells that even a simple moment has a large significance. The poet has mentioned crow and hemlock tree in this poem. Crow signifies his depressive and sorrowful mood and hemlock tree is a poisonous tree. Both these signify that the poet was not in a good mood and so he describes the dark, depressive and bitter side of nature to present his similar mood.

Mehak Sharma 4 years, 8 months ago

The poem describes a very simple happening in very simple words. It tells us that sometimes even small things may prove to be a larger significance. The poet is sad while sitting under a hemlock tree. Suddenly a crow sitting on tree and fine particles of snow falls upon the poet. The soft and cold touch of snow changes the poet's mood from sad to happy. In this way simple movement proves to be very significant and saves the rest of day of the poet.

10th of May was, a day of freedom for South Africa and there was huge gathering of international leaders and dignitaries. Inauguration ceremony or swearing in ceremony was held in Union Building in Pretoria and first non-racial government took the charge. Nelson Mandela gave speech on the victory for justice, peace and human dignity. Mandela pledged to liberate his people from poverty, suffering and discrimination. A colorful show by jets and helicopters to show military’s loyalty took place. Singing of two national anthems was done-the old ‘Nkosi Sikelel’ by the whites and the new ‘Die stem’ by the blacks. A new system that recognized the rights and freedoms of all people was formed. Mandela remembered and thanked the people who sacrificed their lives for the freedom. Salutation to some great freedom fighters – Oliver Tambo, Walter Sisulu, Chief Luthuli, Yusuf Dadoo and others. Mandela said in speech that a country is rich because of its people not because of the minerals. Courage is not the absence of fear but the victory over it. People should love others and not hate them due to color or religion. Love comes naturally not by force, which is the natural goodness. He also stated that a man should try to make a balance between his duties – duty to his family and duty to his community and country. A black person was treated badly and not allowed to perform his duties. According to Mandela, freedom has many aspects like – for a kid it is to run and play, for adult it is to fulfil the need of his own and his family. Real freedom means equal rights for everyone. Nelson Mandela joined African National Congress (ANC). He desired for people to live with dignity and respect. He wanted the oppressor and the oppressed to be liberated.
