    Road accidents have become very common nowadays. As more and people are buying automobiles, the incidences of road accidents are just increasing day by day. Furthermore, people have also become more careless now. Not many people follow the traffic rules. Especially in big cities, there are various modes of transports. Moreover, the roads are becoming narrower and the cities have become more populated. Thus, road accidents are bound to happen. You pick up a newspaper and you will find at least one or two news about road accidents daily. They cause loss of life as well as material. People need to be more careful when on the road, no matter which mode of transport you are from. Even the ones on foot are not safe because of the rise in these incidences. Every day people witness accidents in the news, from relatives and even with their own eyes.

    The law of reflection are -
    1. angle of incident is equal to angle of reflection.
    2. incident ray, reflected ray and normal all lies on the same plane
    Activity

    Place a plane mirror on the table. Take a paper sheet and make a small hole in its centre. Make sure that the light in the room is not bright. Hold the sheet normal to
    the table. Take another sheet and place it on the table in contact with the vertical mirror. Draw a normal line on the second sheet from the mirror. Now, light a torch on the mirror through the small hole such that the ray of light falls on the normal at the bottom of the mirror. When the ray from this hole is incident on the mirror, it gets reflected in a certain direction. You can easily observe the incident ray, reflected ray and the normal to the mirror at the point of incidence on the sheet placed on the table. This shows that the incident ray, the reflected ray, and the normal to the surface at the point of incidence all lie in the same plane.

    Heat is transmissible. It flows from body to body. Transfer of heat takes place in all solids, liquids and gases. Heat transfer may take place in three ways- i. When the particles are not moving at all. ii. When the particles move about. iii. When heat transfers from one body to another body that are placed at a distance without heating any medium between the two bodies. a. Conduction- The process of transmission of heat energy in solids without the actual movement of particles from their positions is called conduction. This usually happens when a body is in direct contact with the hot body. b. Convection- Convection takes place in liquids and gases only as the particles are free to move. The phenomenon due to which particles of a medium actually move to the source of heat energy and on absorbing heat energy, move away from it thereby making space for other particles to move to the source of heat energy is called convection. One natural application of convection is the occurrence of land breeze and sea breeze. c. Radiation: The transference of heat energy from a hot body to a cold body directly, without heating the space in between the two bodies, is called radiation. As a matter of fact, radiation requires no medium. For e.g. the vast space between the earth and the sun is a vacuum; yet the heat of the sun reaches earth.
