- The food from mouth after swallowing passes into oesophagus and is pushed down to stomach by a special movement called peristalsis.
- This peristaltic movement takes place through out the alimentary canal which pushes the food in downwards direction.
- At some times the stomach is not ready to take up food causing vomiting, where food is expelled out from the oesophagus to mouth by reverse peristaltic movement.

Carbohydrates, when consumed, have to be digested into glucose. As glucose can be easily absorbed in blood, it provides energy to the body. Hence, when glucose is directly taken, it does not have to be digested and thus acts as an instant source of energy. Because it easily breaks down in the cell with the help of oxygen which provides instant energy to the organism. Glucose does not need digestion, it is directly absorbed into the blood.
