It's simply given in formula of resistance that - R= row l/a L = length a = area This formula is representing that - R is directly proportional to length and inversely proportional to area of cross section. So , we get that if we the resistance is increased than cross section area will be decreased.

Resistance depends inversely on cross section area of wire. If cross section area increases, resistance decreases.
