Let , x=0.99999....... (equation 1) Multiply equation 1 by 10 10 × x = 10 × 0.99999...... 10x = 9.9999........ (equation 2) Subtract equation 1 from equation 2 10x - x = 9.99999...... - 0.99999..... 9x = 9 x = 9÷9 x = 1
