In Triangle ADE and ABC, AD=2 BD=2.5 AE=3.2 DE ll BC, ∴∠ADE=∠ABC ( corresponding angles) ∠AED=∠ACB ( corresponding angles) ∠BAC is common Δ ADE is similar to Δ ABC In similar triangles, we know that the ratio of corresponding sides is equal ∴ AB/AD=AC/AE (AD+BD)/AD = AC/AE (2+2.5)/2=AC/3.2 4.5/2=AC/3.2 ( 4.5×3.2)/2= AC 7.2=AC Hence the value of AC is 7.2
