Federalism is a system in which the power is divided between a central government and various constituent units(like state government and local self government in India) of the country. Some key features of federalism are as follows: *There are two or more levels of government. * Each tier will control the same citizen but their area of jurisdiction will be different in terms of legislation, taxation, etc.. *If any disputes arises between state and central government the court will have the the power to solve their issues. *The Federal system has dual objectives: To safeguard and promote unity of tej country. To accomodate regional diversities. These are some key features of federalism.
