The fragmentation is a mechanical event. The body parts break down into un-equal parts by external forces. The broken parts may develop into new organisms. The fission is a process of equal division of prokaryotic cells into equal parts. It is a simple process of multiplication. Here the DNA strands are equally divided into two daughter cells.
