{tex}It is given that (x+1 ) is a factor of the given equation.{/tex}
{tex}x+1 = 0{/tex}
{tex}x = -1{/tex}
Substituting the value of x in the given equation, we get
{tex}k(-1)^2- (-1)-4 = 0 {/tex}
{tex}k +1-4 = 0{/tex}
{tex}k-3 = 0{/tex}
k=3
