Let the larger no. be "x" and smaller no. be "y" x+y=16 y=16-x Acc. to the question 2x2(2xsquare) = y2 +164 2x2= (16-x)2 +164 2x2=256+x2-32x+164 x2+32x-420=0 Then by solving the above quadratic equation we get x=-42 and x=10 Since the nos. can't be negative therefore x=10 Putting value of x in x+y=16 10+y=16 y=6 The two parts if 16 are 10 and 6
