Differences between archaebacteria and eubacteria

Archaebacteria: 

  1. Archaebacteria are called ancient bacteria.
  2. Individual archaebacterium is 0.1-15 μm in diameter.
  3. Archaebacteria are spheres, rods, plates, spiral, flat or square-shaped.
  4. Archaebacteria are simple in their organization.
  5. Cell wall is composed of pseudo peptidoglycans.

Eubacteria:

  1. Eubacteria are called true bacteria.
  2.  Individual eubacterium is 0.5-5 μm in diameter.
  3. Eubacteria are cocci, bacilli,  vibrio, rods, filaments or spirochetes in shape.
  4.  Eubacteria are more complex than archaebacteria.
  5. Cell wall is composed of peptidoglycans with muramic acid.
