Take tan^-1x as =t then integrate t We get dt/dx=1/1+x^2 then, dx/1+x^2 =dt Now substitue in original eq. I.e. 2 tan^-1 dx/1+x^2 = 2 t ×dt Integrate it ; = 2 t^2/2 = t^2= (tan^-1 x)^2, ans.
