Given function is f(x) = sin x + cos x. When we differentiate we get f'(x) = cos x - sin x. Equate f'(x) = 0. You will get values of x. Given in the question is also about the interval in which x lies. So substitue the lowest limit, hogher limit and the values of x that you have found out in f'(x) = cos x - sin x. If the sign is +, then it increases in that interval, or if it is -, then it decreases in the interval.
