Authority always flows downwards i.e. vertically from superiors to subordinates’.
It refers to the right of an individual to command his subordinates and to take action within the scope of his position. According to Henri Fayol, ‘Authority is the right to give orders and the power to exact obedience. Authority gives holder the power to enforce orders or decisions. It can be delegated.
