Iso means same and aniso is opposite of iso , so isotropic are amorphous solid whereas crystalline solids are anisotropic in nature

Solids which are isotropic in nature (amorphous solids) have same values of their physical quantities when calculated in the different directions along the same crystal whereas solids which are anisotropic in nature (crystalline solids) have different values.

when the properties of a material vary with different crystallographic orientation the,the material is said to be anisotropic. Alternately , when the properties of a material are the same in all directions, the material is said to be isotropic
