During the initiation of the cardiac cycle, as the ventricles are filled with blood the pressure is minimum in the arteries.This minimum pressure is called as diastolic pressure. when the ventricles start to contract the pressure in the arteries is maximum.This maximum pressure is called as systolic pressure
