It is the reaction in which carboxylic acid combines with an alcohol in the presence of little concentrated sulphuric acid to form an ester. The ester so formed are pleasant smelling.
THe -OH part of acid combines with -H part of alcohol to form water and rest of the components combines to form ester

When a carboxylic acid is treated with an alcohol and an acid catalyst, an ester is formed (along with water). This reaction is called esterification.
