Respiration is the biochemical process by which food is oxidised and energy is released. Now since energy is released in this process therefore it is called exothermic reaction

Because in this glucose is break down into CO2+H2O+ENERGY...and those reaction in which energy is released is known as exothermic ...therefore respiration is exothermic reaction
