1=2: A Proof using Beginning Algebra The Fallacious Proof: Step 1: Let a=b. Step 2: Then a²=ab, Step 3: a²+a²=a²+ab, Step 4: 2a²=a²+b Step 5: 2a²-2ab=a²+ab-2ab Step 6: and 2a²-2ab=a²-ab. Step 7: This can be written as 2(a²-ab)=1(a²-ab), Step 8: and cancelling the a²-ab from both sides gives 1=2.

How do you find inverse using elementary transformation?

But we can only do these "Elementary Row Operations":

  1. swap rows.
  2. multiply or divide each element in a a row by a constant.
  3. replace a row by adding or subtracting a multiple of another row to it.

Let, y=2^(sinx) Step 1: Taking logarithm to both sides, log y = log {2^(sinx)} Or, log y =(sinx).(log 2) Step 2: Differentiating both sides w.r.t. x, (1/y)(dy/dx)= (sinx).(d/dx)(log 2) + (log 2 ).(d/dx)(sin x ) Or, dy/dx ={ 0 + (log 2). (cos x)}y Or, dy/dx = 2^(sin x ).(cos x).(log 2)

Answer :  π/3

We know that angle between two lines is

l +m +n= 0
⇒ l = - (m+n)
⇒ (m+n)2 = l2
⇒ m2 +n2 +2mn = m2 +n2
[∵ l2 = m2 +n2, given]
⇒ 2mn = 0
when m = 0 ⇒ l =-n
Hence, (l, m, n) is (1,0-1)
When n =0, then l =-m
Hence, (l,m,n) is (1,0-1)

volume of cube is increasing at the rate of 8cm³/s. e.g.,
edge length , a = 12cm

we know volume of cube , V = a³
now differentiate with respect to time,

put a = 12cm and dV/dt = 8cm³/s
now, 8 = 3(12)² da/dt
8 = 3 × 144 × da/dt
=> da/dt = 1/54 cm/s -----(1)

we also know surface area of cube , A = 6a²
differentiate A with respect to time,
dA/dt = 12a da/dt

put a = 12cm and from equation (1),
so, dA/dt = 12 × 12 × 1/54 = 144/54 = 8/3

hence, rate of change of surface area of cube is

Let, z = [1 + tan (x/2)]; so, dz = (1 / 2)*[{sec (x/2)}^2]*dx So, I = ʃ dz / {1 + (z^2)} = tan -1 z + K = tan -1 {1 + tan (x / 2)} + K
