Steric hindrance is the slowing of chemical reactions due to steric bulk. It is usually manifested in intermolecular reactions, whereas discussion of steric effects often focus on intramolecular interactions. Steric hindrance is often exploited to control selectivity, such as slowing unwanted side-reactions.

Bleaching Powder is a chemical compound with formula Ca(ClO)2. (Calcium hypochlorite). It is widely used for water treatment. It is used for disinfection of water in the treatment process. The chlorine released by the Bleaching powder kills the harmful germs present in water.. The residual effect of this chlorine protects water from getting infected / contaminated with pathogens.

Nitrogen pentachloride, NCl5, is not possible because it cannot be formed. It cannot be formed because the nitrogen atom does not have vacant d-orbitals. Thus, electrons cannot be transferred from the chlorine atom to the nitrogen atom.

It is equal to rate of reaction when concentration of each of the reactant is unity

Swati Singh 6 years, 6 months ago

Rate constant is the proportionality constant in the rate law that simply relates rate of the reaction with the concentration of the reactants raised to some powers(which may or may not be equal to stoichiometric co-efficients). Its unit depends upon the rate of the reaction ,equal to [mol L^-1]^(1-n) s^-1, where n is the order of the reaction.I hope the definition n formula will be useful for u!

Dindayal Rqthur 6 years, 6 months ago

It is define as the rate law expressionless when concentration of reactant become unity

Sia ? 6 years, 6 months ago

Rate constant is a coefficient of proportionality relating the rate of a chemical reaction at a given temperature to the concentration of reactant (in a unimolecular reaction) or to the product of the concentrations of reactants.

When any metal react with oxygen then formed oxide of that metal ,this metal oxides called corrosion of that metal. For example: 4Al + 3O2 = 2Al2O3 Aluminium + Oxygen = Aluminium oxide 4Fe + 3O2 = 2Fe2O3 Ferrous + Oxygen = Ferric oxide

The bond which is formed by sharing of electrons among atoms is called covalent bond. There are three types of covalent bond. 1- Single covalent bond 2-Double covalent bond 3-Triple covalent bond Ionic bond is used between positive ion and negative ion. Electrons donated by element get positive charge on it and those elements which gain electron gets negative charge on it. The relationship between the actual number of moles of solute added to form a solution and the apparent number as determined by colligative properties is called the van't Hoff factor (i).
i = (apparent number of particles in solution)/number of moles of solute dissolved
It is used to express the extent of association or dissociation of solute. If association or dissociation of solute particles takes place in the solution, then
i = observed measured value of colligative property/ expect value of colligative property
i =  Number of particles after association or dissociation/ Number of particles of solute dissolved.

 Peptide linkage: a peptide bond is a chemical bond formed between two molecules when the carboxyl group of one molecule reacts with the amino group of the other molecule, releasing a molecule of water (H2O). This is a dehydration synthesis reaction (also known as a condensation reaction) and usually, occurs between amino acid. Peptide linkage is responsible for the primary structure of protein.

Volume of H2SO4 (V1) = 30 ml)

Diluted volume of H2SO4 (V2) = 500 ml

Number of moles present in 1000 mL of 0.5 M H2SO4 = 0.5 mol

Initial molarity M1= 0.5 M

We have to find M(molarity of 500 ml solution)

M2V2 = M1V1

M2  x 500  = 0.5 x 30

M2 = 15/ 500 = 0.03 M

Freezing point of the solution will increase. Mercuric Iodide will react with Potassium Iodide to form dipotassium tetraiodomercury. The reaction is given below : 2KI + HgI2 = K2[HgI4] This association will decrease the number of ions in the solution as a result of which Van't Hoff Factor (i) will decrease as ndecreases from 4 to 3.
