Political Executive Permanent Executive
1. Executives who are elected by the people for a specific period are called the political executives. 1. The permanent executives are salaried civil servants who are appointed on a long-term basis.
2. Example-Political leaders like the Prime Minister, Council of Ministers and so on. 2. Persons working in civil services. For example - IAS, IFS, IPS etc.
3. They remain in office only so long as they command the confidence of the majority members of Parliament. 3. They remain in office even when the ruling party changes.Their tenure of office is fixed.
4. They are answerable to people for all the consequences of their decisions. 4. They are not answerable to the people.
5. They are more powerful. They take all the final decisions. 5. They are less powerful. They do not take decisions. Instead they assist political executives in carrying out day-to-day administration.

The factors that lead to the emergence of nationalist feelings are:

Shared beliefs − This refers to the collective identity and vision for the future of a group that aspires to have an independent political existence.

  • The citizens of a nation-state share common beliefs irrespective of ethnic or religious differences.

  • For example, every citizen of India wants the national hockey team to become world champion.

Common history − The citizens of a nation-state share a common history.

  • It perceives them as stretching back into the past as well as reaching into the future.

  • For example, Indians share a common history of nationalist movement and have the same vision for their future.

Common territory − It shares a common land or territory on which the people have been living for a long period of time. Thus, territory is an important component of unity.

For example, Indians identify themselves with the distinctive geographical features of the Indian subcontinent.

Shared political ideals − Citizens of a nation-state share a vision of the kind of state they want to build.

  • They share same political ideas, they share commitment to a set of political ideas and are bound by a set of obligations legitimatised by the law of the state.

  • For example, the Constitution of India that is representative of the collective will of the people has adopted democracy and secularism, among other ideals, as its goals.

Common political identity − The citizens share a common political identity irrespective of their religious, linguistic groups.

For example, a Sikh from Punjab, a Muslim from Uttar Pradesh and a Hindu from Karnataka share a common political identity of being Indian irrespective of their different religious and linguistic groups.

Politics, by definition meana the strategy to govern. But in a broader sense, it is a strategy to succeed or sustain. But it shall not be considered as a dirty or corrupt form of social occupation as it has been defined in the same way. In fact, it's not an occupation at all. It's more like a social responsibility. A sense of public service is essential for anyone to be a part pf politics.

  1. State and Government are the Main Subjects of Political Theory: State is the main subject of political science and theory because the machinery of political science revolves around the State. In the sphere of political theory, we study the nature and size of the existing State and the practicability of the fundamental principle of the present government. But the nature of the State and government have changed with time. Now, their present nature is different from the past. Political theorists study the reasons for the origin of State and its process of development.
  2. Study of Power: Political theory also includes the study of power. In other words, “Political theory is the study of power process”. Power has many forms — political, economic and social power, individual and public power, national and international power, etc.
  3. Wider Scope of the Subject: The study of the political theory consists of study in different fields i.e., formal, informal, economy, social, psychological, geographical, ethical, political, religious and cultural. These factors influence the political system. In political theory, we study society, state, and international politics.
  4. Study of Political Ideology: Political theorists also study political ideologies. Various ideologies have been prevalent in the society from Plato to nowadays. For example, Idealism, Individualism, Marxism, Gandhism, Socialism, Utilitarianism, etc.

Parliamentary government is also known as responsible  government. There exist a close relationship between the cabinet and the Legislature. All the members of the cabinet are the members of the Legislature. They have the right to attend the meetings of the legislature and are to answer questions put to them by the members of the Legislature. The cabinet is responsible to the Legislature. The responsibility of the cabinet means that so long as it enjoys the confidence of the legislature, it remains in power.

The Parliament controls the executive in the following ways :  

1.The Ministers are responsible to the Parliament for the actions and policies.

2. Through discussions, debates, questions,etc, the Parliament control the ministers. 'Question Hour and 'Zero Hour’ are another method to control the executive.

3. The members of Parliament by introducing ‘Adjournment Motions’ can invite the attention of the government to a serious problem or event.

4. The Lok Sabha can remove the cabinet by passing a vote of no confidence.

Liberty and equality are related to each other.
Their is no role of liberty in the absence of equality. Their are the same condition viewed from different angles..
They are the two sides of the same coin.
Though their is a close relationship between liberty and equality yet their are some political thinkers who do not find relationship between liberty and equality.
