The role of MNCs in the process of globalisation can be understood through the following five examples:
1. MNCs have led to the availability of products from all over the world in any country. For example, in India, corporations like Ford and Hyundai have led to a greater availability of cars from other countries.
2. MNCs from developing countries are also increasing their presence in developed countries. For example, Tata Tea purchased Tetley, a tea brand in Britain a few years ago.
3. They have led to a greater movement of labour across the world. For example, Indian software engineers working in TCS go the U.S. for work.
4. MNCs have increased the inflow of foreign capital across different countries. For example, when a corporation like General Electric invests in India, it brings in capital from abroad.
5. They have led to more transfer of technology across the countries. For example, Samsung brings in more advanced technology for manufacturing electronics into countries like India.

The different forms of power sharing in modern democracies are:
→ Horizontal Distribution of Power: The power is shared among the different organs of government, such as the legislature, executive and judiciary. Example: The distribution of power between Indian Parliament (legislature), the council of ministers headed by chief ministers (executive) and Courts of India.
→ Vertical Distribution of Power: The power is shared among governments at different levels– a general government for the entire country and governments at the provincial or regional level. Example: In India, power is shared among Central government, State government and local governments.
→ Distribution of Power among different Social Groups: Power may also be shared among different social groups such as the religious and linguistic groups.Example: ‘Community Government’ in Belgium.
→ Distribution of Power among Political Parties, Pressure Groups and Movements: Political Parties, Pressure Groups and Movements control or influence those who are in power. Different political parties contest elections for power which ensures that power does not remain in one hand and shared among different political parties that represent different ideologies and social groups. Pressure groups and movements influence the decision making process.

Accountability:
The people form the government by electing their representatives therefore, in a democracy the government is expected to cater to the needs and expectations of the people. The people have the right to and the medium to examine the decision making process i.e there is transparency. In this way the government is accountable.
Responsive:
Because it is a people's government, they have to cater to the needs of the people. This is usually something that non democratic governments lack in. Because there happens to be transparency, the people examine the process and this makes the government look after the needs and take measures to fulfil it
Legitimate:
In any Democratic country there is has to be formal constitution that is the binding force. It keeps the powers of government to the limited. Also while making decisions, the government has to follow norms and rules that make sure even though the decision process is long the decision made is more acceptable by the people

- Seasonal Character: Rivers and canals cannot be operated for transportation throughout the year as water may freeze during winter or water level may go very much down during summer.
- Unreliable: The inland water transport by rivers is unreliable. Sometimes the river changes its course which causes dislocation in the normal route of the trade.
- Unsuitable for Small Business: Inland water transport by rivers and canals is not suitable for small traders, as it takes normally a longer time to carry goods from one place to another through this form of transport.
- Slow Speed: It is a slow means of transport. Failure of monsoon results into fall in the water level of rivers making navigation difficult
- More chances of attack on boat sailing through
- Only can be used when sufficient water is available.
