There were a variety of cultural processes through which the Indian nationalist movement sought to capture people's imagination. These were:
1.India was depicted as a goddess in popular art to create a sense of devotion among the people.
2.Bankim Chandra Chattopadhay created the image of "Bharat Mata" and composed the "Vande Mataram" which later became the National Song. .
3.Indian folklore was used to promote the feeling of nationalism. .
4.The National Flag was designed through which people could identify with the nation.
5.Reinterpretation of Indian history was another such means. By highlighting the historical achievements of Indians, nationalists sought to instil a feeling of pride for their country amongst the people.

(i) The 'challenge of expansion' involves implementing the primary principles of democracy across all regions, social groups and a variety of institutions.
(ii) It entails securing more power for local governments, extending the federal principle to all units of the federation as well the inclusion of women and minority groups in the functioning of a democratic government.
(iii) The 'challenge of expansion also implies that very few decisions should remain outside democratic control.

Mahatma Gandhi believed that religion can never be separated from politics. It was not in reference to any particular religion but in general Gandhi believed that every religion is characterized by moral values and ethics and that religion brings a sense of morality in the conduct of politics. For Mahatma Gandhi, religion must guide political actions whose ultimate aim was to secure welfare of the people.

Gandhiji was very apt in voicing his concern about resource conservation in these words: “There is enough for everybody’s need and not for any body’s greed.” He placed the greedy and selfish individuals and exploitative nature of modern technology as the root cause for resource depletion at the global level. He was against mass production and wanted to replace it with the production by the masses.

- It helps to identify the various resources present in different regions of the country.
- It helps in the conservation of various non-renewable/extinguishable resources.
- It helps in reducing wastage of resources.
- It helps in equal distribution of resources among the regions that have acute shortage of it.
- It helps in keeping track of remaining resources.
- It helps to take care of future generations.
Thus, resource planning is necessary for sustaining quality of life and global peace.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was demanding separate electorates for dalits. Mahatma Gandhi believed that separate electorates for dalits would slow down the process of their integration into society. Ambedkar ultimately accepted Gandhiji’s position and the result was Poona Pact of September 1932. It gave the depressed classes reserved seats in provincial and central legislative councils, but they were to be voted in by general electorate
