Over laping mean difference in social division and one by one creat A problem for poor people For ex- no education /unemployment /landless /discriminate to other cast

Gaurav Seth 6 years, 8 months ago

The overlapping social difference is a state when a particular social difference becomes more powerful than the other. As a result of which people may feel a strong bond to one group and isolated towards other which results in disintegration of the country.

An overlapping difference is a combination of many social differences, in which one difference is the root cause of other social differences. There are instances when people perceive themselves to be belonging to a particular community, race or language that creates a difference between them and others in the society, leading to an economic difference.

Because he felt that salt would reunite the hindus and muslims

Gaurav Seth 6 years, 8 months ago

Salt was chosen as the central formula in civil disobedience moment because it was a commodity that every Indian could relate, be it poor, middle class, rich, dalits or brahman all used salt alike. Gandhi ji wanted to make the people aware about the oppressive policies which in this case was the ban on manufacturing of salt . He had a symbol in salt which had the potential to unite each and every community in India which had been a major shortcoming of the earlier Non-Cooperation Movement.

Taxes on salt have been implemented in India since earliest times. But the tax on salt increased greatly at the time of British rule in India. The British government forced the Indian people to buy the vital mineral salt. The Britishers were exercising a monopoly over the production and marketing of salt and imposed heavy taxes on salt. Therefore, in response to the taxes introduced by the British government on salt M.K Gandhi launched a salt march from March to April 1930. This Salt March call for a widespread involvement of Indian people. Hence, thousands of Indians supported Gandhi from his spiritual retreat near Ahmadabad to the coast of the Arabian Sea. However, the march concluded in the imprisonment of nearly 60,000 people.

This is how salt became an effective tool to resist against the colonial rule.

From 1954 to 1975 Vietnam was divided into two countries, North Vietnam (the Democratic Republic of Vietnam) and South Vietnam (the Republic of Vietnam). After its defeat at Bien Dien Phu, France signed an independence agreement with the victorious Viet Minh in Geneva. Vietnam would be divided by a demilitarised zone (the DMZ), with the French withdrawing their forces from Vietnam north of the zone and the Viet Minh withdrawing their forces from the south. An associated declaration stated that after the troop withdrawals an election would be held for the reunification of the country. This provision was never agreed to by the South Vietnamese or the United States, and the reunification election was not held. South Vietnam had been effectively independent since May 1954, and Ngo Dinh Diem declared it a republic after he became president through a questionable election in 1955. South Vietnam was heavily backed by the US, which saw it as a bulwark against communism. Before long Diem's authoritarian regime was challenged by local communists, backed by the regime in North Vietnam.

  • Democracy safeguards the Fundamental Rights which are defined as basic human freedoms which every Indian citizen has the right to enjoy for a proper and harmonious development of personality.
  • Democracies usually develop a procedure to conduct thier competition. This reduces the possilbilities of these tensions becoming explosive or violent.
  • --no society can permanently resolve conflicts among different groups but we can certainly learn to respect these differences and we can evolve mechanisms to negotiate the differences.
  • Democracy is best suited to reduce this outcome. Ability to handle social differences, division and conflicts is a plus point of democratic regime.Hence, democracy leads to peaceful and harmonious life among citizens.
