Industrial sector provides the basic inputs to the agricultural sector such as tractor, harvesting machines, fertilisers are a few basic inputs that are used by the agricultural sector. Wheras agriculture provides basic raw material to the industrial sector, e.g., cotton, sugarcane. The industrial sector provides employment to the excess labour (disguised unemployees) in the agricultural sector. Agricultural sector provides labour to the industrial sector. Agricultural sector provides market to the industrial sector. It means that the people engaged in agriculture consume the products produced by the industries. For example tooth paste, soap washing powder etc. Agricultural sector feeds the industrial labourers, which keeps them healthy, and thereby makes them more productive. The support that agriculture provides to the industries is the wage goods (food grains). Both the agricultural and industrial sector are mutually dependent on each other. In case of good harvest, the farmers have high incomes, which they use to demand more industrial goods. For example, during good harvests, many farmers buy new elctronic goods, clothes, etc. Similarly, when the people engaged in the industrial sector experience good income, they demand higher quantities of food grains.

Yogita Ingle 6 years, 8 months ago

Globalisation means the interconnections in economic activities, trade and business that have led to the integration of manufacturing processes and markets around the different economies of the world. It is a process that is an offshoot of the liberalisation of previously closed national economies and opening them up to international manufacturers. Domestic companies are very often pitted against multi national corporations as a result of this. Reduction of trade barriers like tariffs, import duties and licensing quotas have hastened this process by fuelling capital and investment movements. It has led to demand for skilled labour. It has manifested itself culturally as well through the circulation of ideas. Dissemination of knowledge and technology is another important aspect of globalisation.

  • The Bretton Woods system was the first system used to control the value of money between different countries. It meant that each country had to have a monetary policy that kept the exchange rate of its currency within a fixed value—plus or minus one percent—in terms of gold.
  • The International Monetary Fund (IMF) was created to fight against temporary imbalances of payments. The Bretton Woods system was the first monetary order that organized monetary relations among independent nation-states.
  • It set out the rules for commercial and financial relations among the world's major industrial states.
