Yes, classification of economic activities into primary, secondary and tertiary sector is useful as it helps in estimating the relative importance in the growth in GDP of the economy. Classifying in such a way helps in calculating how much goods and services are produced and how many people work in each sector. In India tertiary is growing at a very fast speed which implies that the country is moving towards developed country. This type of classification helps in comparing the level of growth in different countries.

Economic development means that the rate of production must be faster than the rate of increase in population. In other words, it is a process which makes people in general, better off by increasing their command over goods and services and by increasing the choices open to them.
Two bases of measuring economic development of a country are - National Income and Per Capita Income.

- Individual Resources: These are owned privately by individuals. Many farmers own land which is allotted to them by government against the payment of revenue. Urban people own houses, plots and other property. So plantation, pasture land, ponds, etc. are some of the examples of resource ownership by individuals.
- Community-owned Resources: These are resources which are accessible to all the members of the community. For example, grazing grounds, burial grounds, village ponds, etc. and public parks, picnic spots, playground, etc. are accessible to all people. Thus they are community- owned resources.
- National Resources: All the resources within the nation are called national resources. All the minerals, water resources, forests, wildlife, land within the political boundaries and oceanic area upto 12 nautical miles from the coast and resources within the nation, belong to the nation.
- International Resources: There are international institutions which regulate some resources. The oceanic resources beyond 200 kms of the Exclusive Economic Zone belong to open ocean and no individual country can utilise these without the permission of international institutions.

The movement lost momentum, people had been agitating for a long while but the promised swaraj in one year (Gandhi had made this promise while beginning the movement) was still far away and Gandhi gained a pretext to call off the movement from the Chauri Chaura incident. In that village some policemen open fired on the crowd and the people enraged burnt the police station and the policemen in it. This however was not an isolated incident, for similar acts of violence happened elsewhere in different parts of India. Gandhi gave the excuse that he wanted his movement to be completely free from violence. Thus he called off the non-co-operation movement.

A challenge is not just any problem. Only those difficulties are a ‘challenge’ which are significant and can be overcome and therefore carry within them an opportunity for progress. Democracy is the dominant form of government in the contemporary world. It does not face a particular challenger, but the promise of democracy is far from realised anywhere in the world. Democracy as a whole faces certain challenges.
Legal constitutional changes by themselves cannot help to overcome challenges to democracy—like economic inequality, unemployment, illiteracy, caste, gender discrimination. Democratic reforms can be carried out by political activities, parties, movements and politically conscious citizens, in order to realise the opportunity in a challenge, in order to overcome it an go up to a higher level.

Railways can transport larger number of goods and passengers over long distances at economical cost. Hence, Railways are the most convenient means of transport in the vast Northern Plains of India. The flat terrain, dense population, rich agricultural resources and greater industrial activity have favoured the development of railways in this region. The Northern Plains, therefore, have the densest road networks. Railways have accelerated the development of industry and agriculture in this region by providing quick availability of raw materials and distributing the finished products to the market.

As cotton industry developed in England, Indian market gradually was flooded with Manchester imports.
This situation created an immense problem for the cotton weavers of India.
The fair impacts of Manchester imports on the cotton weavers of India were
(i) Their export market collapsed and local market shrank.
(iti) Machine made cotton clothes were so cheap, that Indian weavers could not easily compete with them.
(iii) As American Civil War broke out and cotton supplies from the US were cut off, Indian weavers could not get sufficient supply of raw cotton.
(iv) Moreover, raw cotton exports from India increased, so Indian weavers could not get enough raw cotton and were forced to buy raw cotton at exorbitant price
