The limits of Civil Disobedience Movement were:
- The Congress ignored the dalits for fear of offending the sanatanis, the conservative high-caste Hindus. Also, Mahatma Gandhi called the untouchables the children of God.
- Dr B.R. Ambedkar, who organised the dalits into the Depressed Classes Association in 1930, clashed with Mahatma Gandhi at the second Round Table Conference by demanding separate electorates for dalits.
- This made the dalit apprehensive regarding the Congress led national movement.
- Decline of the Non-Cooperation-Khilafat movement, made a large section of Muslim feel alienated from the Congress. Thus, the response of Muslim political organisations in India was lukewarm.
- However, Muhammad Jinnah, one of the leaders of the Muslim League, was willing to give up the demand for separate electorates, if Muslims were assured reserved seats in the Central Assembly and representation in proportion to population in the Muslim-dominated provinces (Bengal and Punjab).
- Hence, the start of Civil Disobedience Movement created an atmosphere of suspicion and distrust between communities.

Most of the jute mills are located along the banks of river Hugli because:
1. Raw material- West Bengal and Orissa are one of the major jute producing states of India. The temperature, soil, and availability of water there is ideal for its growth. Hence raw material is easily available.
2. Transport- A good network of roadways and railways is present along with inexpensive waterways. This makes transport of jute very easy.
3. Labour-Cheap labour is readily available to the industries from West Bengal, Orissa, and Bihar.

The Great Depression began in 1929. India was an exporter of wheat to European countries. When the international prices of wheat crashed because of the Great Depression, prices of wheat in India fell almost by 50%. Peasants and farmers were the worst sufferers. While the prices of the crops declined, the government refused to reduce the revenues. This forced the peasants to borrow money from the moneylenders. At this time in India, the peasants’ indebtedness increased.

(i) Earlier, reading was restricted to the elites. Common people lived in a world of oral culture.
(ii) With the printing press, books could reach out to wider sections of society. If earlier, there was a hearing public, now a reading public came into being.
(iii) Publishers had to keep in mind the wider reach of the printed books. Even those who did not read, could enjoy listening to the books being read out.
(iv) So, printers began publishing popular ballads and folk tales and such books would be profusely illustrated with pictures. These were then sung and recited at gatherings in villages and in taverns in towns.

A) Cheaper labor:
One of the advantages of multinational corporations is the opportunity to operate in countries where labor is not as expensive. This is one of the perks that smaller companies do not enjoy. Multinationals can set up their offices in several countries where demand for their services and products are high while cheaper labor is available.
B) BORDER MARKET BASE:
By opening establishments or offices in several countries, multinationals increase their chances of reaching out to customers on a global scale, a benefit which other companies limited to regional offices and establishments do not have. The access to more customers gives them more opportunities to develop and cater their products and services that will fit the needs of potential customers.
C)JOB CREATION :
When international companies set up branches in other countries, employees and members of the team are locals. That said, more people are given employment opportunities especially in developing countries.
D) TAX CUT: IT can enjoy lower taxes in other countries for exports and imports, an advantage that owners of international corporations can take at any given day. And although not all countries can have lower tariffs, there are those that give tax cuts to investors to attract more international companies to do business in these countries

(a) In 1834, a customs union or zollverein was formed at the initiative of Prussia. It was joined by most of the German States.
(b) The aim of zollverein was to bind the Germans economically into a nation. The Union abolished the tariff barriers and reduced the number of currencies from over thirty to only two.
It helped to awaken and raise national sentiment through a fusion of individual and provincial interests. The German people realised that a free economic system was the only means to engender national feeling.
