The modern currency is not made up of precious metal such as gold, silver or copper and unlike grain and cattle, they are neither every day use. Thus, the modern currency is without any use.
But still it is accepted as a medium of exchange as it is authorised by Government of the country.
In India, the Reserve Bank of India issues currency notes on behalf of the central Government.
Thus, modern currency is accepted as a medium of exchange without any use of its own.

Policy-maker Paul Bernard believed that the economy of the colonies needed to be developed for making more profits. If the standard of living of the people in colony improved, they would buy more goods which led to better profits for French businessmen.
Bernard thought that there were several obstacles for the economic growth in Vietnam. These included high population levels, low agricultural productivity and extensive indebtedness among the farmers. To reduce rural poverty, land reforms and industrialisation like Japan were necessary. These would create more jobs and helped reduce poverty in Vietnam.

Most of the tourists visit Cherrapunji, when they visit Shillong, the capital of this state. This tourism business as thrived in Cherrapunji and has drawn in large number of people as tourism creates many more jobs. As a result, the population of this town has multiplied by 15 times from the original figure of just 7000 people. There is no water reservoir or any water storage tanks in this town. In the winter months, enough water is not available for the population of the town. One can see every morning, water tankers arriving in Cherrapunji. Since most of the tourists come here to see the rainfall, locals are afraid that with dwindling rainfall, there would be a proportionate decline in the number of tourist arrivals.
