The 'Civilizing Mission' of colonizers meant the spread of western culture, thoughts, education, language, science and logic in the colonies. The French felt, like many Europeans, that imperialist expansion had a noble aspect too. They thought that it was the duty of the superior races to educate and civilize the people of Asia and Africa. Due to this, French established many schools in Vietnam, in which Science, Philosophy and French were taught. But this did not prove to be a successful idea and had adverse effect, as it spread western culture at the cost of local Vietnamese culture which was often laughed at by the colonizers.

The way in which the world economy is integrated in the modern world is globalization. Take example of Microsoft. Microsoft is having its headquarters in USA. This company is getting part of its software developed in India and several other countries. And Microsoft’s software is being used across the world. Another example can be Ford motors based in USA. Ford is having manufacturing plants in Chennai and cars manufactured in Chennai go for sale in other countries. Moreover, company may be getting gear boxes produced in some other country, seat belts from a different country, lights, rear view mirrors in some other nation by some other company. Almost all the components get supplied by various vendors to the Ford motor, which assembles them to make the car.

The following points may help you:  French's control over Vietnam was visible most in the economic and military aspect, however, French established control over the education system of Vietnam to consolidate its control. a. Economic-  For French, colonies were necessary to provide natural resources and other goods. The Vietnamese economy was based on rice cultivation and rubber plantation to meet the French needs.Labours were hired on contracts, gradually landlordism became well entrenched and standard of living declined. To suit the French requirements for easy transportation of goods massive infrastructure projects, rail networks were established. b. Religion- The French in order to consolidate its control and authority wanted to exercise cultural and social domination and influence. One such way was to introduce Christianity in Vietnam , establish Christian Missionaries and encourage conversions. c. . Education- . They followed the policy of discrimination against the Vietnamese students, of deliberately failing students. The education system glorified French rule. d.Health and Hygiene- French tried to create modern Vietnam with modern architecture and engineering skills to build a modern city in Hanoi but the native quarter was not provided with modern facilities.

The government in Belgium divided the powers equally between Dutch and French speaking populations. It was decided that equal representation should be given to the French- and Dutch-speaking population. Thus, there were equal numbers of ministers belonging to both communities in the Central Government. In Brussels, where the French were in majority, both communities were given equal representation, as the Dutch had agreed to equal representation at the centre despite them being in majority. THus, in Belgium power was divided equally between the Dutch and French speaking populations.
Sri Lanka became independent of colonial rule in 1948. There were two major communities—Sinhalese and Tamilians. The Sinhalese were in majority and hence they followed majoritarian policies. Sinhala was recognised as the only official language of the country. Preferential positions in government jobs were given to the Sinhalese. All these measures led to dissent among the Tamilian community which finally culminated into a civil war, with the Tamilians demanding the formation of an independent Tamil state in the northern and eastern parts of Sri Lanka. Thousands of people were killed in the civil war.
Thus, we find that both Belgium and Sri Lanka dealt with the issue of power sharing differently. In Belgium, the leaders respected the interests of both linguistic groups and avoided any possibilities of clashes among the Dutch- and French-speaking communities. In Sri Lanka, however, the assertive policies of the majority community led to a civil war threatening the unity and integrity of the country.
