There are mainly two types of waterways :
Inland waterways
- Inland waterways comprise of rivers, lakes, canals, backwaters etc which are navigable. Major inland waterways in India are - Ganga Bhramaputra river system, rivers of Goa, backwaters of Kerala etc. Globally, lakes of North America, Suez Canal, Nile river etc are quite popular.
Sea Routes - Sea Routes are mainly used for transporting goods internationally. Sea Routes are also used by ships for tourism purposes. The major ports in India are Mumbai, Surat, Vishakapatnam etc. Globally, Singapore, Newyork etc are quite popular. Sea Routes maybe considered as one of the most primitive ways of travelling internationally.
Advantages of waterways
1. Suitable For Heavy Cargo: Water transport is the only suitable means to transport heavy and big sized goods and materials.

2. Foreign Trade: Water transport is the cheapest and suitable means for transporting goods, conducting trade among different countries, importing and exporting goods.

3. Natural Gift: Rivers, lakes, seas, etc. are free gifts provided by nature. So, no additional expense is needed to construct waterways like roads and railway construction.

4. Cheap : Water transport is the cheapest means. Its operational expense remains unchanged and relatively cheap. As it can carry and transport huge amount of goods at a time, per unit cost becomes low.

The division of power between the Central and State Governments is done in a three fold distribution of legislative powers between the Union Government and the State Government. There are three lists i.e. Union List, State List and Conturrent List.
(i) Union List It includes subjects of national importance, e.g. defence of the country, foreign affairs, banking, communication and currency. The Central Government alone can make decisions on these matters. The aim of including these matters in Union List is to ensure uniformity in the policy of these areas throughout the country.
(ii) State List It contains subjects of state and local importance such as police, trade, commerce, agriculture and irrigation. The State Government alone can make laws and decisions on these areas.
(iii) Concurrent List It includes those subjects which are of common interest to both the Central as well as State Governments. It includes matters like education, forests, marriage and trade unions. Both the State and Central Government can make decision on these matters.

The process of industrialization was not very rapid, it stretched over a century. The early industrial production for the international market was carried on from the house holds and there was no concept of factory production. The change came up slowly with the invention of several machines that increased the efficiency of the labourers. We notice that that thought the first cotton industry was set up in London in the 1730s, industrialization as a process took up pace from the late18th century. In this period, the merchants had had to bridge the gap between the cities an the countryside, new machines had to be produced, transportation system bettered. These processes took time to be completed and thus industrialization also took a century to actually to gain its pace. industrialisation does not just mean growth of factory industries.
