Characteristics of development are as follow
(i) The idea of development has always been with ’
us, when we desires about what we would like to do.
(ii) Development involves thinking about the . questions and about the ways in which we can work forwards achieving our desired goals.
’ (iii) There can be different development goals of different persons.
(iv) Development for one may not be development for other. It may even be destructive for other.

The process of unification of Germany:
1. The middle-class Germans had tried to fight for a united nation governed by an elected parliament in 1848 but were repressed by the monarchy and military.
2. Otto von Bismarck, chief minister of Prussian led the movement for unification of Germany. He was supported by the bureaucracy and the Prussian army.
3. After three wars with Austria, Denmark, and France, Prussia won and unified Germany. The Prussian king, William I, was proclaimed the German emperor in January 1871.

From the 1960s..the rising cost of US's overseas involvement weakened it's finances.....the US dollar could not maintain its value and hence it led to the collapse of the system of fixed exchange rates.
- this led to periodic debt crisis, lower income and increased poverty in Africa and Latin America.
- from late 1970s,MNCs also began to shift production operations to low-wage Asian countries.
- As Wages were relatively low in countries like china,it became a favourite destination for investment by foreign MNCs competing to capture world markets.
- In the last 2 decades ,countries like China, India and Brazil have achieved rapid economic development.

The spreading of nationalism took place due to following factors
(i) United Struggle Different religious groups and communities unitedly struggled against the British rule.
(ii) Cultural Processes Unity spread through various cultural processes like history, folklore, songs and symbols that helped in spread of nationalism.
(iii) Common Identity The painting of‘Bharat Mata was commonly identified as motherland and affected the people equally.
(iv) Revival of India Folklore Reviving the folklore through folk songs, legends helped in promoting traditional culture and restore a sense of pride in the past history and culture.
(v) Role of the Leaders Leaders like’ Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru aroused the feelings of nationalism through their motivational speeches and political activities.
Thus, it can be concluded that nationalism spread, when people began to believe that they were all part of the same nation.
