Saponification is the hydrolysis of an ester under acidic or basic conditions to form an alcohol and the salt of a carboxylic acid. Saponification is commonly used to refer to the reaction of a metallic alkali (base) with a fat or oil to form soap.
Example:
Ethanoic acid reacts with alcohols in the presence of a conc. sulphuric acid to form esters.
C2H5OH + CH3COOH → CH3COOC2H5 + H2O
The ester, on treating with a base such as NaOH is converted back to alcohol and sodium salt of carboxylic acid. The reaction is known as saponification because it is used in the manufacture of soap.
CH3COOC2H5 + NaOH → C2H5OH + CH3COONa

The acidic behaviour of acid is due to the presence of hydrogen ions. The acids will not show its acidic behaviour in the absence of water, this is because acids do not dissociate to produce H+(aq) ions in the absence of water.

Resistance is the property of a conductor, which determines the quantity of current that passes through it when a potential difference is applied across it.
A resistor is a electrical componet with a predetermined electrical resistance, like 1 ohm, 10 ohms 100 ohms 10000 ohms etc.
Depending on how much current you want to pass through a circuit, you would design the circuit with the required resistors.
When it comes actual circuit designing, dealing with components or physical board designing, these two words become interchangeable. For example, if we say "a resistor of 22 ohms" or we say "a resistance of 22 ohms", both are accpetable.

Ionic compounds are formed by attraction between the positive and negative ions. These ions cannot move out of their fixed positions. Thus, solid ionic compounds do not conduct electricity.
When ionic compounds are in molten state or dissolved in water forming a solution, the ions can move. Then ionic compounds conduct electricity.

Chlorine has a higher effective nuclear charge, and therefore should be more oxidizing than iodine.
The nuclear charge of chlorine is less shielded by intervening electrons. Thus chlorine gas should be a better oxidant.
If we turn to reduction potentials, which we should do as scientists because scientists must utilize quantitative data, we find:<mathjax>
1/2 Cl2+e−→Cl−</mathjax> <mathjax>E∘=1.36
1/2 I2+e−→I−</mathjax> <mathjax>E∘=0.54</mathjax>
How is this consistent with the given proposition?

In highly organized plants, vascular tissues (Xylem and Phloem) are the main components of transportation system. In general, xylem carries the water and minerals from roots to the aerial parts of the plants, whereas phloem carries food from leaves to other parts of the plants.
Xylem are lignified tissues and are characterized by tracheids and vessels. Evaporation of water from leaves (transpiration) creates a suction or pull that enables xylem to pull water from roots. Sometimes, the water may also move into roots due to osmosis and this will create a positive pressure on xylem to transport water. Xylem transports water and soluble nutrients, in response to transpirational pull and water osmosis, by capillary action and is capable of transporting water to great heights within tall plants.
Phloem are non-lignified tissues and transport soluble products of photosynthesis. They are characterized by living cells and transport the sugars by the process of translocation. Unlike xyle, phloem carries out multi-directional flow by using hydrostatic pressure.
