(a) Resistance of a wire is directly proportional to the length of a wire; so if the length is doubled, resistance is also doubled.
(b) Resistance of a wire is inversely proportional to the area of cross-section the wire. Thus, if radius is doubled, area increases four times and hence the resistance becomes one-fourth.

Combination reactions are very much applicable in chemical industry, following are examples:-

  • Hydrogen gas and chlorine gas is applied in making hydrochloric acid .
    H2 + Cl2 → 2HCl
  • The rusting of iron can also be categorized as combination reaction .
  • Burning of coal : C (Solid) +O2 → CO2
  • Discharging of a battery is usually a combination reaction.

Carbon dioxide

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 7 months ago

Answer: Oxygen

Explanation:

Oxygen is released during the process of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process in which green plants produce glucose. It involves the conversion of carbon dioxide gas, water, and minerals the plants take in from their surroundings into sugar and gaseous oxygen. Photosynthesis involves the intake of carbon dioxide and the release of oxygen. The release of oxygen is due to photolysis of water in order to fill the gap in the photosystem created by the excitement of electron.

Effective resistance is defined as the resistance to an alternating current, expressed as the ratio of the power dissipated to the square of the effective current. Effective resistance varies with the frequency of the signal. Equivalent resistance is defined to a set of resistors or components having resistance only.

The property of light travelling in a straight line is called rectilinear propagation.

Two natural phenomena based on the property that light travels in straight lines are as follows:

  •  Lunar Eclipse: This phenomenon occurs when the Earth, the Sun and the Moon are aligned in such a way that the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon. Light from the Sun cannot reach the Moon and is covered by Earth's shadow.
  •  Solar Eclipse: This natural phenomenon takes place when the Moon comes in between the Sun and the Earth, blocks the sun rays from reaching the Earth and, covers the Earth with its shadow.

Aluminium and zinc react with moist air to form a thin protective layer of oxide on their surfaces. This Iayer prevents further corrosion of the metals. Aluminum unlike iron and steel, does not rust or corrode in moist conditions. Its surface is protected by a natural layer of aluminium oxide. This prevents the metal below from coming into contact with air and oxygen.

Object distance (u), image distance (v) and focal length (f) of a spherical lens are related as:

1/v – 1/u = 1/f.

The formula is a relation between the object distance u, image distance v and the focal length from the pole of the concave mirror. The formula is valid for the images in a convex mirror and even for the images in the lens.

We consider the image formed by a concave mirror whose focal length is f and whose radius of curvature is r = 2f.

Let P be the pole of the concave mirror. Let P, F , C be the pole, focal point, and centre of curvature along the principal axis. So, PC = 2PF , as r = 2f.
