The atomic mass of 235U is approximately 235 u, so the are 0.235 kg of uranium per mole. The total binding energy released in fission of an atomic nucleus varies with the precise break up, but averages about 200 MeV* for U-235 or 3.2 x 10-11 joule. This is about 82 TJ/kg. That from U-233 is about the same, and that from Pu-239 is about 210 MeV* per fission.

pH scale

  • A scale developed to measure the concentration of hydrogen ion in a solution is known as pH scale where p in pH implies ‘potenz’ in German.
  • pH scale ranges from 0 (highly acidic) – 14 (highly alkaline).
  • The pH of a neutral solution is 7.
  • Acidic solution is represented by a value less than 7 on the pH scale.
  • Whereas basic solution is represented by a value greater than 7 on the pH scale.
  • An increase in OH– ions concentration in the solution results in increase in the strength of alkali hence the value of pH increases.
  • Acids giving rise to more H+ ions are strong acids whereas those giving rise to less H+ ions are termed as weak acids

pH means potenz hydrogen or power of hydrogen.

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 9 months ago

    • Thermal decomposition reaction A thermal decomposition reaction can be defined as a decomposition reaction which is activated by thermal energy. The reaction is generally endothermic as energy is required to break the chemical bond in order to separate the constituent elements.
      • example of thermal decomposition reaction
        • CaCO3 → CaO + CO2 When heated Calcium Carbonate, decomposes into Calcium Oxide and Carbon Dioxide. This process is employed in the manufacturing of quick lime which is an important component in industries.
  • Electrolytic decomposition reaction
      • An electrolytic decomposition reaction is a type of decomposition reaction in which the activation energy for decomposition. Example of electrolytic decomposition reaction
        • Dissociation of water:2H2O→ 2H2 + O2
  • Photo decomposition/ photolytic decomposition/ photochemical decomposition
    • A photo decomposition is the type of decomposition reaction in which the reactant is broken down to its constituents by photons.Example of photo decomposition reaction
      • O3 + hν → O2 + O(1D)Photolysis occurs in the atmosphere wherein ozone molecules is broken down into oxygen molecule and atomic oxygen.

To construct a ray diagram we use two light which are choosen that it is easy to know their direction after reflection from the lens.List these two rays and state the path of these rays after refractio use these two rays to locate the image of the object placed between 'F' and '2F' of a convex lens.

Fireflies produce a chemical reaction inside their bodies that allows them to light up. This type of light production is called bioluminescence. ... When oxygen combines with calcium, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and the chemical luciferin in the presence of luciferase, a bioluminescent enzyme, light is produced.

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 9 months ago

Joule’s law of heating states that when a current ‘i ' passes through a conductor of resistance ‘r’ for time ‘t’ then the heat developed in the conductor is equal to the product of the square of the current, the resistance and time.

H = i 2 rt

The reason behind the heat produced is the collision of the free electrons with the lattice ions or atoms while accelerating in presence of the external electric field.

we know that

volt= work done/ total charge or v = w/q

from this we get w= vq

we know that current i = q / t

so q = it

putting this in prev equation

we get w = vit

from ohms law v = ir

putting it in prev eq we get

w = irit = i2rt joule as work is stored as heat soH = I2RT Joules

The decomposition of plant and animal organic waste by the action of microbes into useful compost is an exothermic reaction because large amount of energy is released in this process. It is different from other chemical reactions,as they need energy to break the bond. According to the circumstances mentioned in the question that, The decomposition of vegetable matter into compost is said to be exotherimic in nature...but all decomposition reactions involve the absortion of enegry ; i.e. they are endothermic. That's why it is an exothermic reaction.

Bile is a greenish yellow liquid made in the liver. Bile performs two functions: (1) it makes the acidic food coming from the stomach alkaline so that pancreatic enzyme can act on it. (2) bile salts break the fats present in the food into small glucose making it easy for the enzyme can act on it and digest it. Pancrease secreates pancreatic juice which contains digestive enzymes like pancreatic amylase, trypsin and lipase. The enzyme amylase breaks down the strach, the enzyme trypsin digests the protiens and enzyme lipase breaks down the emulsified fats.

Physical change is temporary change, but chemical change is permanent change.

Meghna Thapar 5 years, 9 months ago

Those changes in which no new substances are formed are called physical changes. But the properties like state, size, shape and colour changes. If we cut the piece of paper in four parts and again we cut the paper into another four pieces, we cannot join the pieces but the properties are changed. Those changes in which new substances are formed are called chemical changes. The properties of new substances formed in a chemical changes are entirely different from those of the original substances. Chemical changes are also called as chemical reactions. The chemical changes are permanent changes which can usually not be reversed to form the original substance. Large amount of energy is absorbed or lost during the process.

Study Lover ?‍? ?‍? 5 years, 9 months ago

Physical changes are reversible while chemical changes are irreversible.

Cataract is a condition in which the crystalline lens of people at old age becomes milky and cloudy resulting in blurred vision. Most cataracts develop when aging or injury changes the tissue that makes up your eye's lens. Some inherited genetic disorders that cause other health problems can increase your risk of cataracts. Cataracts can also be caused by other eye conditions, past eye surgery or medical conditions such as diabetes.

Natural Cure for Cataract:

  1. Have regular eye examinations. This way, you can detect and treat eye problems earlier.
  2. Stop smoking, reduce alcohol use and manage health problems.
  3. Eat fruits and vegetables.
  4. Wear sunglasses.
