Power of a lens
Power of a lens is the ability to converge or diverge the ray of light falling on it.
Power of a lens is defined as reciprocal of focal length of the lens.
1
P=—–
f
A lens of small focal length has large power of converging or diverging a parallel beam of light.

Two resistors of resistance R1 and R2 are connected in series. Let I be the current through the circuit. The current through each resistor is also I. The two resistors joined in series is replaced by an equivalent single resistor of resistance R such that the potential difference V across it, and the current I through the circuit remains same.
As , V = IR , V1 = IR1 , V2 = IR2
IR = IR1 + IR2
IR = I (R1 + R2)

We acquire knowledge and skills in our lifetime such as learning dance, music, physical fitness, etc. But these skills cannot be passed to our progenies because:
- Such characters or experiences acquired during one’s lifetime do not bring any change in the DNA of the germ cell.
- Only germ cells are responsible for passing on the characters from the parents to the progeny.

DNA copying is otherwise known as DNA replication which is the process of producing 2 identical copies of DNA from one original DNA molecule during cell division. DNA copying is important because it generates variation during sexual reproduction which leads to evolution. Also, DNA copying helps in transfer of information or characters from the parents to the offsprings.

It is due to biparental percentage. The genes on chromosomes which pass over to the next generation is partly derived from both the parents (mother and father). During fertilisation of egg by the sperm, new combination of chromosomes enter the zygote, due to which certain variations occur in the offsprings. Thus, brothers and sisters show variations in their complexion, habits and behaviour.

Both bio-mass and hydro electricity are renewable sources of energy. Biomass is obtained from dead plants and animal wastes whereas hydro electricity is obtained from energy stored in water at some height. Energy from both these sources can be obtained again and again.

The ability of the atom to lose electrons easily determines whether it is metallic or not. in small atoms, the number of shells are less and thus the free electrons present in the outer shell of the atom is more closer to the nucleus of the atom. due to this, the nuclear charge of the atom is more and thus does not allow the free electrons to flow freely. in the case of a larger atom, the number of shells are more and the free electrons in the last orbit are much farther away from the nucleus of the atom. due to this, the nuclear charge of the atom is less and easily allows the free electrons to flow and thus is more metallic.

Aim: Same current flows through every part of the above circuit.
Procedure: Connect ammeters, ‘A’1 between B and C, and ‘A2’ between D and E. Adjust the sliding contact of the rheostat initially for a small current. Note all the ammeter readings. These reading give us current flowing through the resistors R1, R2 and R3 The current in the circuit is now increased by changing the position of sliding contact J’ of the rheostat. Note all the ammeter readings each time.
Conclusion: Same reading of all the ammeter in each observation concluded that same current flows through every part of the circuit.
Precautions: All the connection should be tight and properly connected as per circuit diagram. The positive terminal of the ammeter and voltmeter must be connected to the positive terminal of the battery or battery eliminator.

The human heart is made up of four chambers. There are two superior atria and two inferior ventricles. The heart chamber that has the thickest muscle wall is the left ventricle. The left ventricle is responsible for pumping the blood around the heart and so it needs to have a strong muscle wall.

Power is consumed across the resistor when current flows through it.
The formula for Power consumed, P = VI
P = V x (V/R) {because according to Ohm’s Law, V = IR}
So let = Power consumed across resistor
Power consumed across resistor
Therefore ratio of the electric power consumed by R and 2R,
