Ohm's law :- The potential difference across the ends of a resistor is directly proportional to the current through it, provided it's temperature remains the same.

The conditions for its validity is temperature and all other parameters should be constant.

The nature of the graph is a straight line passing through the origin.

Resistance is the physical quantity that can be determined from the graph.

Carbon has four electrons in its outermost shell. So, if carbon has to make ionic compounds then there are following possibilities:

  • Carbon may gain four electrons to attain a noble gas configuration. But in such a situation, it would be difficult for 6 protons to balance 10 electrons.
  • Carbon may lose four electrons to attain a noble gas configuration. But removing 4 electrons from a carbon atom would require too much energy and hence this won’t be possible in practical situations. Moreover, after losing four electrons the carbon atom would be left with just 2 electrons to balance 6 protons.

'Glycerol' is the product formed besides soap that is obtained during saponification process.

  • Soaps are defined as a sodium or potassium salts of long chain fatty acids.
  • When the triglycerides in fat or oil react with aqueous NaOH or KOH, they are converted as components namely soap and glycerol.
  • This is referred as alkaline hydrolysis of esters. Since this reaction leads to the formation of soap, it is called the Saponification process.
  • This  reaction is exothermic in nature, because heat is liberated during the process.
  • The soap formed remains in suspension form in the mixture.

Given that

Charge,q = 1 C

Potential difference V = 6 v

To find out

We need to find the energy given to each coulomb of charge passing through a 6 V battery

Solution

Principle of conservation of energy

  • From the principle of conservation of energy, we know that the work done by the system is equal to the energy supplied to that system.
  • The energy given to each coulomb of charge is equal to the amount of work required to move it.

Formula

Potential difference (V)= Work done (W) / Charge (q)

On rearranging the above formula we get

Work done (W) = Potential difference X Charge

Put the value of V and q in the above equation, we get

Work done (w) = 6 X 1

Work done = 6 Joules

Therefore, the energy is given to each coulomb of charge passing through a 6 v battery is 6 J.

In biology, regeneration is the process of renewal, restoration, and tissue growth that makes genomes, cells, organisms, and ecosystems resilient to natural fluctuations or events that cause disturbance or damage. Once wounded, their cells become activated and restore the organs back to their pre-existing state. Planaria can be cut into pieces, and each piece can regenerate into a complete organism. Cells at the location of the wound site proliferate to form a blastema that will differentiate into new tissues and regenerate the missing parts of the piece of the cut planaria.

The speed of light in water is 2.25 × 108 m/s. If the speed of light in vacuum be 3 × 108 m/s, calculate the refractive index of water.

SOLUTION

Given:
Speed of light in water = 2.25 × 108 m/s
Speed of light in vacuum = 3 × 108 m/s
Refractive index of water = ?
Applying the formula for refractive index, we get:
Refractive index of a medium = (Speed of light in vacuum) / (Speed of light in the medium)
For water:
Refractive index of water = (Speed of light in vacuum) / (Speed of light in water)
= (3 × 108) / (2.25 × 108)
= 1.33
Thus, the refractive index of water is 1.33.

Quantization of charge implies that charge can assume only certain discrete values. That is to say the observed value of electric charge (q) of a particle will be integral multiples of (e) 1.6×10−19 coulombs.
i.e.
q=ne where n=0,1,2,.... (both positive and negative integers)
The charge cannot assume any value between the integers.

When a negative charge is brought near one end of a conductor electrons are repelled. When electric voltage is applied, an electric field within the metal triggers the movement of the electrons, making them shift from one end to another end of the conductor. Electrons will move toward the positive side. Electric charge can also be carried by ions in an electrolyte, or by both ions and electrons such as in an ionised gas. Electrons flow from negative terminal to positive terminal which results in current flow in opposite direction. ... In any circuit, electrons constitute the flow of charges.

The sky appears blue when the scattering of light takes place through the atmosphere. The blue color of the sky is due to scattering of light from the atmosphere. As there is no atmosphere in space and hence light does not scatter into its constituent colors that is why the sky appears dark instead of blue to an astronaut in space.

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 2 months ago

Scattering of light is the phenomenon that causes the sky to appear blue. Fine dust in the earth's atmosphere scatters the sunlight. Out of all the constituent colours of sunlight, blue colour is scattered the most. Thus, the sky appears blue to us. However, an astronaut in space does not have an atmosphere surrounding him. Thus, there is no question of scattering of light. Thus, the sky appears dark instead of blue to an astronaut.

CO2 pass through the lime water milky due to the formation of white p.p.t

Meghna Thapar 5 years, 2 months ago

Carbon dioxide reacts with limewater (a solution of calcium hydroxide, Ca(OH) 2), to form a white precipitate (appears milky) of calcium carbonate, CaCO 3. Adding more carbon dioxide results in the precipitate dissolving to form a colourless solution of calcium hydrogencarbonate.

Ca(OH)2+CO2→CaCO3+H2O

When carbon dioxide is passed through lime water, it turns milky due to formation of white precipitate in form of calcium carbonate.

Speciation, the formation of new and distinct species in the course of evolution. Speciation involves the splitting of a single evolutionary lineage into two or more genetically independent lineages. Speciation is the evolutionary process by which populations evolve to become distinct species. The biologist Orator F. Cook coined the term in 1906 for cladogenesis, the splitting of lineages, as opposed to anagenesis, phyletic evolution within lineages. Speciation is the process by which new species form. It occurs when groups in a species become reproductively isolated and diverge. In allopatric speciation, groups from an ancestral population evolve into separate species due to a period of geographical separation.
