Let us assume to the contary that√7 is a rational number This implies that √7 =p/q (where p and q are co primes) Squaring both sides, we have 7=p²/q² This implies that 7q²= p² That means 7 is a factor of p² Thus 7 is a factor of p. Let p= 7c where c€natural number Thus 7q²=49c² Or q² = 7c² Thus 7 is a factor of q² That means 7 is a factor of q. Here we come to know that 7 is a factor of both p and q. But this is a contradiction . ( p and q being co prime). Thus, our assumption is wrong. Hence √7 is an irrational number...
