The Nazis used propaganda to control and influence the German republic in convincing them of their views. The used the media aggressively to promote their point of views in Germany. They brainwashed the German republic into believing that their ideas were the future for Germany; for example, they wanted to create a superior race. The Nazis took control of the Press, so that all of its content could be strictly regulated. All of non-press newspapers and magazines were taken over or closed this was to avoid bad publicity for the Nazis. The controlled the newspapers because that meant that they would only publish good content about their political party. The Nazis would then be perceived as a great party to reign over Germany, it made the German republic believe in them because of the way they were publicized.

Surontiko Samin was a leader in Indonesia, north-central Java. Samin started a movement in the late 19th and early 20th centuries that opposed the gruesome Dutch rule that was over the Indonesians. The Saminism movement (as it has come to be known by historians) opppsed capitalism that was imposed on them by the Dutch rule.
The reasons that led to the Saminism movement were as follows:
1) Heavy taxation imposed on the Indonesians by the Dutch colonialists.
2) Monopolization of the free public forests lands. This was especially so for the precious teak forests that were important for trade. The Saminism movement was a peaceful one and advocated for non-violent means of revolting. The Saminism movement also incited the Javanese people to keep on using the resources from the teak forests that they had been otherwise been barred from by the dutch colonialists.

Challenges to free and fair elections in India are as follows:
- Candidates and parties with a lot of money may not be sure of their victory but they do enjoy a big and unfair advantage over smaller parties and independents.
- In some parts of the country, candidates with criminal connection have been able to secure a ‘ticket’ from major parties.
- Some families tend to dominate the political parties; tickets are distributed to relatives from these families.
- Very often, elections offer little choice to ordinary citizens as both the major parties are similar to each other in their policies and practices.
- Smaller parties and independent candidates suffer a huge disadvantage as compared to the bigger parties.
