Solution:

Given:
Diameter of the pencil =7mm

Radius of the pencil (R) = 7/2mm

Diameter of the graphite cylinder =1mm

Radius of the graphite(r) = 1/2mm

Height(h)=14cm= 140mm

[1cm= 10 mm]

Volume of a cylinder= πr²h

Volume of graphite cylinder = πr2h = 22/7 ×1/2 × 1/2 ×140

Volume of graphite = 110 mm³

Volume of pencil = πR²h

 = 22/7 ×7/2 × 7/2 ×140

= 490×11= 5390 mm²

Volume of pencil=5390mm³

 Volume of wood = Volume of pencil - Volume of graphite

 Volume of wood= 5390- 110= 5280 mm³

= 5280/1000= 5.28 cm³

[1mm³= 1/1000cm³]

Volume of wood = 5.28 cm³

Total distance covered = x

Total fare = y

Fare for the first kilometer = 8 per km

Fare after the first 1km = 5 per km

If x is the total distance, then the distance after one km = (x-1)km

i.e., Fare after the first km = 5(x-1)

According to the question,

The total fare = Fare of first km+ fare after the first km

y = 8+5(x-1)

y = 8+5(x-1)

y = 8+5x – 5

y = 5x+3

Solving the equation,

When x = 0,

y = 5x+3

y = 5×0+3

y = 3

When y = 0,

y = 5x+3

o = 5x+3

5x = -3

x = -3/5

x y
0 3
-3/5 0

The points to be plotted are (0, 3) and (-3/5, 0)

Frequency of tails = 545

i) The probability of heads

ii) Probability of tail

In this question we were asked to find out the probability of all the ‘possible outcomes’. The ‘two possible outcomes’ while tossing a coin are occurrence of heads and occurrence of tails. Therefore, we have considered these two possibilities and calculated the result

43/90

Shine Rai 5 years, 4 months ago

How, 43/90

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 4 months ago

Let 'x' be 0.47(bar on 7).

Since the number of repeating decimal is 1,we should multiply x and it's value with 10.

10*x=10*0.47(bar on 7).
10x=4.77(bar on 7).

Now, we should subtract x and it's value from 10x and it's value.

10x-x=4.77(bar on 7)-0.47(bar on 7).
9x=4.3(bar gets cancelled).
x=4.3/9.

This still needs to be multiplied with 10 in order to make p also an integer.

43/90 is the p/q form of 0.47(bar on 7) where p and q are integers and q is mot equal to 0.
