When a ray of light falls on a plane mirror, it gets reflected. After striking the mirror, the ray of light is reflected in another direction. The process of sending back light rays which fall on the surface of an object, is called reflection of light. The light ray, which strikes any surface, is called the incident ray. The ray that comes back from the surface after reflection is known as the reflected ray. A line making an angle of 90º to the line representing the mirror at the point where the incident ray strikes the mirror is known as the normal to the reflecting surface at that point. The angle between the normal and incident ray is called the angle of incidence. The angle between the normal and the reflected ray is known as the angle of reflection.

- By minimizing and reducing the use of fire and fire products.
- Since industrial emissions are one of the major causes of air pollution, the pollutants can be controlled or treated at the source itself to reduce its effects. For example, if the reactions of a certain raw material yield a pollutant, then the raw materials can be substituted with other less polluting materials.
- Fuel substitution is another way of controlling air pollution. In many parts of India, petrol and diesel are being replaced by CNG – Compressed Natural Gas fuelled vehicles. These are mostly adopted by vehicles that aren’t fully operating with ideal emission engines.
- Although there are many practices in India which focus on repairing the quality of air, most of them are either forgotten or not being enforced properly. There are still a lot of vehicles on roads which haven’t been tested for vehicle emissions.
- Another way of controlling air pollution caused by industries is to modify and maintain existing equipments so that the emission of pollutants is minimized.

There are many differences in Indian farming and US farming methods.
1. India is basically an agriculture-based country with 80% of its population in rural areas, whereas in the US, only a small number of people are involved in farming.
2. The average farm holdings in the India are of small sizes (2-3 hectares), whereas in the US, the farm holdings are large (250 hectares).
3. Most of the Indian farmers are uneducated or receive basic education in the village schools, whereas in the US, the farmers are mostly well educated and keep themselves updated with the latest developments in the agriculture field.
4. Indian farming is labor intensive and traditional methods of farming like plowing is used, whereas, in the US, heavy and advanced machinery is used for farming which is capital intensive.
5. Indian farming is weather dependent and farmers grow only 2-3 crops per year. In the US, the farmers use scientific techniques like soil testing etc. and grow multiple crops throughout the year.
6. The US farmlands give bigger returns to the farmer when compared to the Indian farmlands.

- Enzymes are proteins in nature.
- They are produced by the living cells to accelerate the biochemical reactions inside and outside the cells in living organisms. Hence, they are called biocatalysts.
- The active site is the site on the enzyme molecule to which a substrate binds, and it helps to catalyse the chemical reaction.

Pasteurisation is one type of food preservation method. Pasteurisation is the process developed by Louis Pasteur, especially to store milk. In pasteurisation, milk is first heated to about 70 degrees Celsius for 15 to 30 seconds. Then it is suddenly chilled and stored. This prevents the growth of microbes. Pasteurisation deactivates the microbes and reduces the enzyme activity by reduction of temperature.

Functions of Genes
- Genes control the functions of DNA and RNA.
- Proteins are the most important materials in the human body which not only help by being the building blocks for muscles, connecting tissue and skin but also takes care of the enzymes production.
- These enzymes play an important role in conducting various chemical processes and reactions within the body. Therefore, protein synthesis is responsible for all activities carried on by the body and are mainly controlled by the genes.
- Genes consist of a particular set of instructions or specific functions. For example, globin gene was instructed to produce haemoglobin. Haemoglobin is a protein that helps to carry oxygen in the blood.

By using compound interest formula
P = Rs. 8000
R = 9% p.a. {tex} = \frac{9}{2}\% {/tex} per half year
n = 1 year = 1 × 2 half years
= 2 half years
{tex}\therefore A = P{\left( {1 + \frac{R}{{100}}} \right)^n} = 8000{\left( {1 + \frac{9}{{2 \times 100}}} \right)^2}{/tex}
{tex} = 8000{\left( {1 + \frac{9}{{200}}} \right)^2} = 8000{\left( {\frac{{209}}{{200}}} \right)^2}{/tex}
{tex} = 8000 \times \frac{{209}}{{200}} \times \frac{{209}}{{200}}{/tex}
= Rs. 8736.20
{tex}\therefore {/tex} C.I. = A – P
= Rs. 8736.20 – Rs. 8000
= Rs. 736.20.
