Democratic government can be less efficient than a non-democratic government when it comes to decision making.
Because a non-democratic government does not need to arrive at consensus among a diverse set of people.
But democracy functions on the basis of deliberation and negotiation and hence decisions are often delayed.
Decisions taken in non-democratic government on time need to assess if those decisions are acceptable or are they solving people’s problems. So it does not mean that a democratic government is less efficient.
A democratic government is more transparent than a non-democratic government. A citizen has the right to know the processes which were followed while taking a decision in a democratic government.

MLAs are elected by the people. They represent people. Each state in India has a legislative assembly. Each state is divided into different areas called constituencies. From each constituency the people elect one representative who then becomes an MLA. These MLAs belong to different parties. A political party whose MLAs have won more than half the number of constituencies can be said to be in a majority. The political party that has majority is called the ruling party. All other parties are called the opposition.
