Photosynthesis reaction involves two reactants, carbon dioxide, and water. These two reactants yield two products, namely, oxygen and glucose. Hence, the photosynthesis reaction is considered to be an endothermic reaction. Following is the photosynthesis formula:

- Climate change is a great concern in today’s scenario. This problem has surfaced in the last few decades. Greenhouse gases are the major cause of climate change
- The burning of fossil fuels, emissions from the automobiles and chlorofluorocarbons add to the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. This has led to an increase in earth’s temperature causing environmental changes. This increase in temperature across the globe is known as global warming.
- The ozone layer is a layer of concentrated ozone gas. It protects us from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays. This very important layer is being destroyed by CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons), which are used in industries and everyday life (e.g. aerosol cans).
- The introduction of harmful substances into rivers, oceans, lakes and ponds, which changes the physical, chemical or biological condition of water is called water pollution. The polluted water lacks oxygen and therefore the organisms die.

- Additive inverse: - or minus is the additive inverse for Rational, natural, whole numbers and integers, since adding its additive inverse to a number results in zero.
- 3 + (-3) = 0
- (-4/5) + (-(-4/5)) = (-4/5) + 4/5 = 0
Hence, a + (-a) = (-a) + a = 0, where a can be rational number or natural number or whole number of integer.
- Multiplicative inverse: Dividing a number by 1 is the multiplicative inverse for Rational, natural, whole numbers and integers, since multiplying it to the original number always results in 1.
- 3 x 1/3 = 1
- (-4/5) x (1/(-4/5) = (-4/5) x (-5/4) = 1
Hence, ax 1/a = 1/a x a = 1, where a can be rational number or natural number or integer.

Because animals don't have chloroplasts in their cells like plants do. Plants use these things to make food and energy through a process called photosynthesis. If animals would have the ability to capture sunlight and produce energy for themselves there would be no need for plants and the carbon cycle would not exist.

The process of utilization of food by a living organism to obtain energy is called nutrition.
Auto means self and trophos means nourishment. Plants are called autotrophs because they make their food themselves. The making of food for themselves is called the Autotrophic nutrition. Autotrophic nutrition is found in green plants, and in some bacteria.
The word Heterotrophic is the combination of two words i.e. Hetero + Trophos. Hetero means ‘others’ and ‘trophos’ means nourishment. If organisms depend on others for their food, such a mode of nutrition is called Hetetrophic Nutrition.
The process of making of food by green plants in the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll is known as photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the combination of two words- Photo + Synthesis. ‘Photo’ means light and ‘Synthesis’ means to make.

- Amoeba is a microscopic single-celled organism found in pond water which has a cell membrane, a round, dense nucleus and many bubble like vacuoles.
- The shape of amoeba is variable.
- It has tiny finger like projections called pseudopodia or false feet for movement and capture of food.
- It eats tiny organisms by spreading out its pseudopodia around its food particle and then engulfing it.
- The food gets trapped inside food vacuole, into which digestive juices are secreted and convert them into simpler substances.
- The digested food is then absorbed which is required for growth, maintenance and multiplication.
- The undigested food is expelled out by vacuole.

Plants lose a lot of water through transpiration, hence this water has to be continuously replaced. The cells of the plant will shrink if there is water shortage.
Water is not only needed for photosynthesis, but also for transportation and maintenance of turgid state of cells. Plants also need water for obtaining minerals from soil.
