By the 1960s, diesel was replacing gasoline as the primary fuel, although gasoline was often an option into the 1970s. Today, gasoline is only used in lawn tractors or other small equipment. Liquified propane, or LP, gas was commonly used in the 1950s and 1960s as fuel for farm tractors. The equivalent PTO power is then divided by the rated maximum PTO Power to get a percent load for the engine. (gal/h) Qs = specific volumetric fuel consumption for the given tractor, L/KW × h(gal/hp×h) Page 19 14 PT is total tractor power (PTO equivalent) for the particular operation, KW(hp).

The Chola kings often gave land grants or Brahmadeya to Brahmins. An assembly or Sabha of prominent Brahmin landholders looked after each Brahmadeya, while associations of traders, known as Nagarams, looked after the administration in towns. The decisions taken by these Sabhas were recorded on the walls of the temples by way of inscriptions.
The Uttaramerur inscriptions, state the details and the basis on which a person could become a member of a Sabha. The Chola inscriptions mention several categories of land. Land was named according to the purpose for which it was donated by the Chola kings.

Jatis were the sub-castes which were grouped on the basis of economic and social status. They were ranked as per their backgrounds and their occupations. Ranks were not fixed permanently. ... This assembly of elders was called jati panchayat. But jatis were also required to abide by the rules of their villages. Jati, also spelled jat, caste, in Hindu society. The term is derived from the Sanskrit jāta, “born” or “brought into existence,” and indicates a form of existence determined by birth. In Indian philosophy, jati (genus) describes any group of things that have generic characteristics in common. In addition, caste has allowed countless groups that have migrated into India to find a place and to play an important role. The caste system, as it actually works in India is called jati. The term jati appears in almost all Indian languages and is related to the idea of lineage or kinship group.
