Over a period of time, the map of an area made by a person differs significantly from that made by another person. This is because of the changes in the information about that region. For example, consider the following maps:

  • It was made in 1154 CE (Christian era).
  • In this map south India is where we would expect to find north India.

When the molten magma cools down it becomes solid. Rocks thus formed is called igneous rocks. Igneous rocks are of two types: 1) extrusive igneous rocks 2) intrusive igneous rocks Extrusive igneous rocks- also called extrusive rocks. Lava is actually fiery red molten magma coming out from the interior of the earth on its surface. When this molten magma lava comes on the earth's surface it rapidly cools down and become solid. Rocks thus formed is called extrusive igneous rocks. Intrusive igneous rocks- also called intrusive rocks. They have a very fine grained structure. For example basalt. Sometimes the molten magma cools down deep inside the earth crust. Solid rocks so formed are called intrusive igneous rocks.

Yogita Ingle 4 years, 3 months ago

Nickel and Iron present in the inner core of the Earth are together known as NiFe. The extreme pressure exerted on the inner core by the rocks of the layers lying above causes the NiFe to be in a solid state.

The rock cycle is a process in which rocks are continuously transformed between the three rock types igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic

Gaurav Seth 4 years, 3 months ago

The transformation of one type of rock into another, under certain conditions and in a cyclical manner is referred to as the rock cycle. For example, igneous rocks, formed as a result of the solidification of molten magma, may break down into small particles, which may then be transported and deposited to form sedimentary rocks. Sedimentary and igneous rocks transform into metamorphic rocks when subjected to heat and pressure. These metamorphic rocks may themselves get broken down to form sedimentary rocks, or they may melt under great heat and pressure to form molten magma, which would then once again solidify to form igneous rocks.

Marble is an example of metamorphic rock

Gaurav Seth 4 years, 3 months ago

The Greek word ‘metamorphose’ which means change of form, is the root of the word metamorphic. In other words, these are the rocks that are formed when the igneous and sedimentary rocks change their form under the following two circumstances:

  • Great heat and
  • Great pressure

The following are the examples of metamorphic rocks:

  1. Slate: Clay becomes slate after metamorphosis.
  2. Marble: Limestone becomes marble after metamorphosis.

Stereotype means believing in old rituals and that difference between jatis and gendar

Yogita Ingle 4 years, 3 months ago

When we believe that people belonging to particular groups based on religion, wealth, language etc. are bound to have certain fixed characteristics or can only do a certain type of work, we create a stereotype. For example, we see how boys and girls are made to take certain subjects not because of their aptitude but only because they are either boys or girls. Stereotypes prevent us from looking at people as unique individuals.

The term 'Hindustan' was used in the thirteenth century by Minhaj-i-Siraj, a chronicler who wrote in Persian. He used the term to indicate the areas of Punjab, Haryana and the lands between the Ganga and Yamuna. He applied the term in a political sense for lands which were a part of the dominions of the Delhi Sultan. The included areas shifted with the extent of the Sultanate, but the term never included south India.
