When we believe that people belonging to particular groups based on religion, wealth, language etc. are bound to have certain fixed characteristics or can only do a certain type of work, we create a stereotype. For example, we see how boys and girls are made to take certain subjects not because of their aptitude but only because they are either boys or girls. Stereotypes prevent us from looking at people as unique individuals.

Lines of latitude are called parallels and in total there are 180 degrees of latitude. The distance between each degree of latitude is about 69 miles (110 kilometers). Three latitudes are used in this way: the geodetic, geocentric and parametric latitudes are used in geodetic coordinates, spherical polar coordinates and ellipsoidal coordinates respectively. The seven important lines of latitude are the equator at 0 degrees, Tropic of Capricorn at 23.5 degrees south, Tropic of Cancer at 23.5 degrees north, Antarctic Circle at 66.5 degrees south, Arctic Circle at 66.5 degrees north, the South Pole at 90 degrees south and the North Pole at 90 degrees north.

Politics is the set of activities that are associated with making decisions in groups, or other forms of power relations between individuals, such as the distribution of resources or status. The academic study of politics is referred to as political science.
The three dimensions of power
This theory claims that power is exercised in three ways: decision-making power, non-decision-making power, and ideological power. Decision-making power is the most public of the three dimensions. Analysis of this "face" focuses on policy preferences revealed through political action.

In a democracy, it is the people who elect their representatives as Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and, thus, it is the people who have the main authority. The ruling party members then form the government and some members are appointed as ministers. These ministers are in charge of various departments of the government such as health. Whatever work is done by these departments has to be approved by the members of the legislative assembly.

Pressure belts are seasonally identical horizontal pressure variations created in the earth’s atmosphere just above the earth’s surface due to seasonal and spatial variation of energy received by the earth at different places. [Energy received determines the pressure exerted by the atmosphere at a place and variations in pressure exerted determines the direction and velocity of the wind.]

It is a chemical reaction in which you mix two solutions of two ionic substances and a solid ionic substance (a precipitate) forms.
For example, precipitation occurs when a part of the atmosphere saturates itself with water vapour and when the right temperature comes its condenses and precipitates. The two processes which make the air saturated are the cooling of air molecules and the addition of water vapour.

Every political party has a number of functions to perform. Here we have listed some of them.
- A political party contests elections by putting up candidates.
- In countries like the USA, the candidates are selected by members and supporters of a party.
- On the other hand, in countries like India, the candidates are chosen by top party leaders.
- Every party has different policies and programmes. Voters make a choice in accordance with the policies and programmes liked by them.
- In a democratic country, a large group of people that has certain similar opinions group together and form a party. Then then, give a direction to the policies adopted by the government.
- Those parties which lose elections form the opposition. They voice different views and criticise the government for their failures and mobilize opposition to the government.
