The members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs) are directly elected by the people. They then become members of the legislative assembly and also form the government. Every State in our country has a Legislative Assembly. Each State is divided into different constituencies (areas). From each constituency, the people elect one representative who then becomes a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). The MLA represents the constituency in the Legislative Assembly of the State.

- Sultan Alauddin Khalji established a strong central government during his reign in which the Sultan was the head of the administration.
- The Sultan considered himself as a representative of God or “Shadow of God”. As a result, he restricted matrimonial relations among nobles and officers as well as he prohibited secret meetings and parties etc.
- He also minimized the powers of Ulema in the affairs of State and religion.
- Alauddin Khalji paid his soldiers in cash. In order to enable his soldiers to buy products at cheap rates, he fixed the prices of commodities in and around Delhi. The markets were closely supervised and shopkeepers and traders charging above the fixed price were severely punished.
- Alauddin had maintained a huge army. To meet the expenses of such a huge army, he introduced many revenue reforms. The land was carefully measured and the taxes to be paid to the state were fixed. Taxes were collected by the revenue officers who were appointed for this purpose. The revenue to be paid was increased from one third to half and had to be paid in cash.

False. The work that women do is equally valuer to that of men. Our society and our family depend not only on men but on women too. Both men and women are the two wheels on which the family runs smoothly. If one wheel gets damaged, it is very difficult to run the family. Both men and women are equally important in the development of our country.

A fourteenth century traveler 'Ibn Battuta' explained that the Chieftains fortified themselves in mountains, in Rocky, uneven and rugged places, as well as in bamboo groves. They lived in these forests, which serve them as ramparts, inside which was their cattle and the crop, and water was available for them, this is usually rain water. These chieftains cannot be subdued except by powerful armies who enter the forests by cutting the bamboos with special instruments.
