Rainforests:
Since it rains heavily in this region, the forests are very thick. The forests are so dense that sunlight does not reach the land. Hence the land is damp and dark. Consequently, only shade tolerant vegetation can grow here. Orchids and bromeliads grow here.
Birds: Toucans, humming birds, birds of paradise are found here. The brilliantly coloured plumage and oversized bills for eating; make these birds very different from the birds commonly seen in India. These birds also make loud sounds.
Animals: Monkeys, sloths, and ant eating tapirs are found here. Various species of reptiles and snakes are also found here. Crocodiles, snakes and pythons are in plenty. Some of the species of snakes are anaconda and boa constrictor. Many insects and species of fishes (including the flesh eating Piranha fish) are found here.

The major challenges to democracy are:
The foundational challenge involves transitioning from a non-democratic to a democratic form of government. It means keeping power in the hands of civilians instead of military and establishing a sovereign state. It also means granting basic rights associated with democratic governance to citizens.
The challenge of expansion consists of the application of democratic principles to all social groups, across regions and institutionalising democracy. Expansion includes taking democracy to grassroots through local governments, empowering women and minorities as well as applying federal principles to ensure autonomous decision-making and decentralisation.
Deepening of democracy is the challenge of strengthening the practices and institutions that uphold democracy. This challenge focuses on the expectations of the people in different societies. These expectations are bound to vary and therefore, it needs to be viewd in the different contexts.

The main principles of Bhakti movement were : (1) God is one, (2) To worship God man should serve humanity, (3) All men are equal, (4) Worshipping God with devotion is better than performing religious ceremonies and going on pilgrimages, and (5) Caste distinctions and superstitious practices are to be given up.
Between the tenth and twelfth centuries the Chola and Pandya kings built big temples around many of the shrines. These shrines were visited by the saint-poets. They strengthened the links between the Bhakti tradition and temple worship. Temples were dedicated to respective gods showing their devotion to their deity.

The Indian textiles were in great demand in the European markets. As a result, the English began to make attempts to control the Indian craftspersons by appointing Indian traders as their agents. They introduced the system of advances under which the weavers had to weave cloth which was already promised to European agents. Weavers no longer had the liberty of selling their own cloth or weaving their own patterns. Instead, they had to reproduce the designs supplied to them by the company agents. This system snatched the freedom of the Indian weavers. They began to be guided by someone else.
