Federalism= Federalism is a system of government in which power is divided between a central authority and various constituent units of the country. Key features of federalism= (I) There are two or more levels or tiers. (II) Different tiers of government govern the same citizens, but each tiers has its own jurisdiction in specific matters of legislation, taxation and administration. (III) The existence and authority of each tier of government is constitutionally guaranteed. (IV) The fundamental provision of the constitution can be changed by the consent of both the levels of government. (V) Courts have the power to interpret the constitution and the powers of different levels of government. (VI) Sources of revenue for each level of government are clearly specified to ensure its financial autonomy. (VII) Dual system of the federal system are: (A) Promote unity of the country. (B) Accomodate regional diversity. (VIII) IdeaL federal system are: (A) Mutual trust. (B) Agreement to live together.
